Biography

Michelle Susan Ward was born April 15th, 1976 in Monroe, Louisiana. When she was 13, a local modeling agent saw that she had great potential, and suggested she try her luck in New York. Within a week of arriving there, she had a contract with Ford Modeling Agency, which turned into a successful career of print ads throughout her teenage years. Susan also began taking acting lessons.

When she graduated high school, rather than pursue the showbiz path, she opted to continue her studies, and spent a year at Northeast Louisiana University majoring in psychology. After that year however, Susan decided to go back into acting and landed her first small roles in the early 90s in the soap operas Swans Crossing (1992) and All My Children (1995). She also appeared briefly on Malibu Shores (1996) and in one episode of Xena: Warrior Princess (1997). But her big break was when she landed the role of Meg Cummings on yet another soap opera, Sunset Beach (1997), and appeared in over 400 episodes. More recently, she played the mother of a gymnast in the television series Make It or Break It (2009).

Susan's performances were not limited to the small screen. She has also been in several films including The In Crowd (2000), Shallow Hal (2001), Wild Things 2 (2004), and Who's Your Caddy? (2007), and plays Tara in the 2009 thriller Order of Chaos.

Quotes

  • "When I went to New York [at age 13], I was so young and so naive, I didn't really know how to be scared. I was in New York all those years and I never worried about anything. I was young and determined and hell-bent to succeed, and I did."
  • "I grew up watching NASCAR and all that. Instead of going to church on Sunday, my dad would get a 12-pack of Busch beer, because it was the official NASCAR beer, and we'd watch NASCAR."
